artist statement
As a Cyprus-born, Berlin-based photographer whose work explores the complex relationship between reality, perception, and narrative. My practice is rooted in two approaches: experimental photography, where I manipulate the camera by movement to create concrete image compositions, and documentary photography, which captures the tangible consequences of ideological manipulations in society.
After sampling, I develop on photograph series that are concrete image compositions. Although, these concrete images are aesthetic objects, they are captured through manipulation on what is seen by a naked eye and also represent a metaphor for complex interplay between reality, perception and narratives we construct.
Thus, my work encompasses both experimental and documentary photograph series wondering what is reality beside what we absorb? When ideological manipulation turns to an absorbed reality, what does then define reality?
